Individuals Named for Support of MICF and Contributions to the Community Include Business and Non- Profit Organization Leaders, Philanthropists, a Community Volunteer Leader, and a Teacher/Youth Advocate
– Fort Lauderdale, FL – January 18, 2017– The Marine Industry Cares Foundation today announced its 2017 Class of Chairman’s Gala Honorees ahead of the 2nd Annual MICF Chairman’s Gala – ‘Masquerade Casino Night’ to be held at the Gallery of Amazing Things in Dania Beach on Saturday, January 28th, 2017.
The 2017 Honorees are business owners and philanthropists Mary and Dean DuToit of National Marine Suppliers, Executive Director of the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center Dr. Ana Calderon-Randazzo, Broward County School teacher and the inaugural MICF Summer Camp Instructor Jim Nance of A.D. Henderson Elementary and Middle School at FAU, and businessman and longtime MICF Volunteer Charles Ernst of Dockside Corporate Services.
“MICF is pleased to celebrate these individuals for their contributions and commitment to the Foundation and to recognize them for their works in the community,” stated Gordon Connell, Executive Director of Marine Industry Cares Foundation.
“These four individuals are leading examples of care for our children, care for our families and our community. They serve as inspirations for us all to engage by taking action in ways that have an impact on an individual level and on the community level,” said David Reed, Chairman of the Marine Industry Cares Foundation.
In addition to recognizing individuals who are showing that they care and are making a difference every day, the black-tie soiree also serves as a fundraiser for the Foundation and benefits the MICF Marine Industry Immersion Summer Camps which introduces high school students to the marine industry through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) experiences such as hands-on projects and marine business field trips.
